Coogan Earns Academic All-District Honors

North Carolina's Will Coogan has earned Academic All-District honors for men's cross country and track & field, recognizing outstanding academic and athletic performance. The Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced the honor on Thursday, with Coogan one of 10 student-athletes from Division I schools in North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia named to the District 3 team.

Coogan, a biology major from Exeter, N.H., competes for UNC's cross country and track & field teams. He was the NCAA Elite 90 Award winner for men's cross country, the first UNC student-athlete ever to win the honor for that sport.

In cross country, he placed 36^th at ACC Championships and 155^th at NCAA Championships.

At the recent ACC Outdoor Championships, he placed 12^th in the men's 10,000 meters and 19^th in the 5,000 meters in a season-best time.

He has been named to the All-ACC Academic Team for men's cross country in both of his seasons at UNC, 2020 and 2021.

District winners are candidates for Academic All-America honors, to be announced in June.
