Levy Named IWLCA National Coach Of The Year
July 19, 2022 | Women's Lacrosse
CHAPEL HILL – After leading the University of North Carolina to its third national championship in program history, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association named Jenny Levy the 2022 NCAA Division I National Coach of the Year.Â
This is the third such honor for Levy, who also earned the accolade following UNC's national titles in 2013 and 2016.
The IWLCA, which announced its annual coaches awards on Tuesday, also tabbed Levy as the South Region Coach of the Year for the second season in a row and fourth time in her tenure.
The Tar Heels had their first undefeated season in program history in 2022 and the first by any NCAA champion since 2017. Levy guided UNC to its 13th overall championship weekend appearance – and 10th in the last 13 years – which is tied for the most of any coach in history.
North Carolina's 12-11 victory over Boston College to win the national title marked Levy's 40th career NCAA Tournament win, the third-most in the history of the sport. She ranks third in NCAA Division I history in career wins with 395 and is one of only five head coaches to win three or more NCAA titles.
Prior to the storybook NCAA run, UNC won its sixth consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference championship while extending its ACC Tournament win streak to 18 and its regular season win streak to 40. Levy was named the ACC Coach of the Year for the third straight season and seventh time overall.
Levy will be honored at the IWLCA Convention in Dallas, Texas, on Nov. 16-18 alongside the other national and regional winners.
