No. 3 Women's Soccer Heads To Syracuse

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Third-ranked North Carolina makes its first ACC road trip of the season Thursday as the Tar Heels head to Syracuse for a 7 p.m. match-up on ACC Network Extra.
Carolina is coming off a 3-2 loss to No. 7 Virginia at home on Saturday, while Syracuse was shut out at home by No. 3 Duke, 1-0, on Friday.
This will be the first meeting between UNC and Syracuse since 2020 when Talia Dellaperuta and Libby Moore each recorded their first career goal in Carolina's 2-0 win over the Orange. The Tar Heels out-shot the Orange 24-1 with 16 shots on goal and nine corner kicks.
Syracuse is led Chelsea Domond and Erin Fluery, who have scored four goals each. Domond leads the ACC with 39 total shots and Fluery is tied for fifth with 35 shots. Goalkeeper Shea Vanderbosch ranks second in the conference with an 0.867 save percentage.
The Orange has scored 17 goals in nine games (1.89) and allowed 11 (1.22 GAA), while Carolina has scored 24 goals and surrendered seven goals in nine games.
UNC junior Avery Patterson is tied for second in the ACC in goals (6) and points (14). She recorded the first multi-assist game of her career Saturday against Virginia, distributing on both the Tar Heels' goals. Junior Sam Meza leads Carolina in assists with four.
The Series | The Tar Heels are 7-0 all-time against the Orange, including a 4-0 mark at Syracuse. Thursday's match will be the third straight in upstate New York. UNC and Syracuse have only played in even-numbered years since 2018. Carolina has outscored Syracuse 25-4 in those seven games and has recorded three shutouts.
