October 18, 2023 | Football
Player: Kaimon Rucker
Position: Jack
Hometown: Hartwell, Ga.
Number: 25
What are you studying at UNC?
I am a Psychology major. Right now, I am finishing up my major-focused requirements. I am very excited to be finishing those requirements and begin to focus my attention towards graduation!
After football ends, what do you plan to do professionally?
I want to be a mental health counselor or a sports psychologist. I would love to work with people of color. In the field of psychology, I feel that there aren't many African American psychologists and I want to help change that.
What is the difference between the 2022 Tar Heel defense and the 2023 version?
First, it's our confidence. Last year was our first season under coach Chizik and his scheme and I felt that we spent most of last year continuing to understand it. Now, we understand his defense and scheme and we are able to wreak havoc. He also knows us and our strengths and weaknesses as players. Now, he has the ability to put us in places to succeed and make plays. I think it's a blend of confidence and good coaching.
What venue would you want to perform most in? (Kaimon dabbles in singing.)
If I could sing anywhere, I would choose to perform on Broadway. It's the best of the best.
What's something that most people wouldn't know about you?
I write poetry and I play a lot of games.
What is a new hobby you're getting into?
I am trying to become a better cook.
What is your go-to meal?
Steak. Hands down.
What does your ideal day off look like?
Wake up around 10-10:30, maybe clean a little bit, go grab some food and then hang out and do nothing.
What is your ideal vacation?
I want to go to the Cayman Islands. I would love to spend a few days there, hang out in the Caribbean and see what it has to offer.
What is a place you want to visit but have never been?
The Roman Colosseum. My father and I have it on our bucket lists. We both want to go see the Roman Colosseum in person.
What is the one thing that you can beat anyone in the locker room in?
I'll go with a video game and choose Mortal Kombat.
