VB Tames Tigers With Five-Set Victory

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Carolina volleyball team (10-8, 4-5 ACC) earned their third straight conference win in a row on Friday night, downing Clemson (12-9, 3-6 ACC) in five sets in Jervey Gym.
The Tar Heels performance was highlighted by a season-best 16 blocks, with five players tallying at least one block in the match.
 
Mabrey Shaffmaster led the Tar Heels offensively with a season-best 25 kills, 15 digs and five blocks. Her 25 kill performance is tied for most by any player in the ACC this season. She also became the seventh player in program history to reach the 1,000-kill mark and the first since Paige Neuenfeldt, who played for Carolina from 2012-2015.
 
Three Tar Heels had double-digit digs, Maddy May (18), Shaffmaster (15) and Maria Miggins (13), tallying 68 digs on the night, the second-most by Carolina this season.
 
Zoe Behrendt ran the offense with a career-best 48 assists and a career-best five blocks to go with nine digs and a pair of aces.
 
Carolina outhit Clemson .182-.133, while the Tigers led at the service line in aces, 8-5.
