MBB Pulls Away From Lehigh, 90-68
November 12, 2023 | Men's Basketball
CHAPEL HILL, N.C.— Armando Bacot posted his first 20/20 game of the season and RJ Davis poured in 22 points as 19th-ranked North Carolina pulled away from Lehigh, 90-68, on Sunday afternoon at the Smith Center.
Bacot and Davis each scored a game-high 22, with Bacot adding 20 rebounds for his third career 20/20 effort. He also broke the record for most career offensive rebounds by a Tar Heel with six on Sunday. He has 487 offensive boards in 134 career games. Tyler Hansbrough had 482 in 142 games in his career (2005-09).
"Armando has been amazing throughout his entire career, but there's a sense of urgency that I haven't seen in him, and I think that's because this is it," Tar Heel head coach Hubert Davis said. "There's no more after this. And there's a passion and there's a desire in him to want to leave on a good note, whatever that looks like and so I love that he plays that way. That's something we need every game."
RJ Davis hit 8 of 14 field goal tries, including 3 of 6 three-pointers while also grabbing four rebounds. Harrison Ingram pitched in 14 points and seven rebounds.
"From a versatile threat, [Ingram is] exactly what I'm looking for," Hubert Davis said. "He's got great size. So if you put him at the three as a big guard, you saw tonight he has the ability to be able to post up and finish around the basket. You put a bigger guy on him and he's really comfortable out on the perimeter and can come off ball screens. He can shoot threes. He's an excellent distributor."
Keith Higgins Jr. led Lehigh with 16 points, and Tyler Whitney-Sidney added 10.
UNC out-rebounded Lehigh by a 52-31 margin.
Carolina improved to 2-0 this season with the win, while Lehigh fell to 0-3.
