Men's XC Receives Highest Ranking In Program History

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -Â UNC men's cross country is ranked a program-best No. 4 in the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll released Monday, after winning it second-consecutive NCAA Southeast Regional Championship on Friday.
UNC earned 285 points and moved up one spot after ranking No. 5 in the previous poll with 276 points.
The Tar Heels had been ranked as high as No. 5 four times, including weeks two, three and five this season. UNC finished the 1985 season ranked No. 5 overall.
Carolina has now been ranked in a school-record 13 straight coaches polls, and 17 of 20 polls since the start of the 2021 season. UNC began the 2023 season ranked No. 6 in the preseason poll after finishing the 2022 campaign at No .10.
UNC is the highest ranked ACC team and sits behind reigning national champion and top-ranked Northern Arizona, No. 2 Oklahoma State and No. 3 BYU. One point separates the top two ranked teams.
The 2023 NCAA DI Cross Country Championships, takes place Saturday, Nov. 18, at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va. The meet will be televised beginning at 9:30 am ET on ESPNU.
