MBB To Meet Arkansas In Atlantis Third-Place Game

• Carolina looks to bounce back from its first loss of the season when it plays Arkansas in the third place game in the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis Friday at 1 p.m.
• The Tar Heels are 4-1 after an 83-81 overtime loss to Villanova on Thursday. The Razorbacks are 4-2 with a home loss to UNCG and an 84-79 loss to Memphis on Thanksgiving.
• This is the first game this season in which both teams are ranked in the AP poll. UNC entered the week No. 14 and the Razorbacks are No. 20.
• RJ Davis scored 23 and Harrison Ingram had 20, but Eric Dixon led the Villanova with 34 points and 10 rebounds, the Wildcats made 32 of 36 free throws and three of UNC's top six players fouled out of the game.
• Cormac Ryan added 18 for the Tar Heels, including a three-pointer with 33 seconds to play to tie the game at 68, but injured an ankle in the final seconds in overtime. His status for Friday's game is unknown at this time.
• UNC dropped to 4-3 all-time on Thanksgiving.
• The Tar Heels made nine three-pointers – four by Ingram, two apiece by Davis and Ryan and one by Elliot Cadeau. UNC has made 21 threes in the first two games in the Bahamas.
• Carolina has not allowed a fastbreak point in the two games in the Bahamas.
• UNC is playing in the Battle 4 Atlantis for the third time. The loss to Villanova dropped UNC's record in the Battle 4 Atlantis to 5-3.
• It was Carolina's first overtime loss since a four-overtime game vs. Alabama on Thanksgiving weekend last season in Portland, Ore.
• Armando Bacot had 18 rebounds against the Wildcats, the 12th time in his career he grabbed 18 or more in a game. He has 1,401 rebounds in his career, including 499 on the offensive glass, both all-time UNC records.
• Bacot is averaging 4.6 offensive rebounds per game this season, ahead of his school record marks of 4.19 (in 2022-23) and 4.18 (2021-22) the last two seasons.

UNC-ARKANSAS
• The Tar Heels are 7-3 all-time against Arkansas. The last meeting was 11/24/2017 in Portland, Ore., in PK 80, an 87-68 Tar Heel victory. Luke Maye had 28 points, 16 rebounds and five assists in the win.
• The previous six times UNC played Arkansas were in NCAA Tournament games from 1990-2017. Carolina won four of those six NCAA Tournament, including 1993 and 2017 when the Tar Heels went on to win NCAA titles.
• The Arkansas game is the first of back-to-back games for UNC against SEC teams. The Tar Heels host Tennessee November 29 in the first ACC-SEC Challenge.
