Wolfe Named ACC Track Athlete Of The Week
December 5, 2023 | Track & Field
On Tuesday afternoon, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced that University of North Carolina Junior Parker Wolfe was named the ACC Men's Track Athlete of the Week, following his outstanding performance at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener hosted by Boston University.
Parker Wolfe smashed his old school record of 13:19.73, set at this same event last year, with a new record of 13:13.61. This time ranks him as the eighth collegian of all time in the indoor 5,000-meter. Wolfe finished fourth in a field of over 200 runners. Harvard's Graham Blanks finished first in the Men's 5,000-meter and set an NCAA record with a time of 13:03.78.
Last year, Wolfe was named first team All-ACC, finishing fifth at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 5,000-meter before receiving first team All-American honors. On Saturday, he began his quest to surpass last season's performances.
Wolfe and the Tar Heels will be back in action on January 14 in Blacksburg for the Virginia Tech Invitational.
