Men's Lacrosse Defeats No. 9 Johns Hopkins, 11-7

BALTIMORE, MD. - Four Tar Heels posted multi-goal performances and Collin Krieg stopped 14 shots, en route to No. 19 North Carolina (2-0) defeated No. 9 Johns Hopkins (2-1) 11-7 Tuesday night at Homewood Field.

How It Happened
- Johns Hopkins jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first quarter in an early defensive matchup.
- A back-and-forth second quarter saw the Blue Jays outscore UNC 4-3, as Johns Hopkins entered the half leading by three, 6-3.
- The Tar Heels stormed out of the halftime intermission, with three third quarter goals, however UNC would trail 7-6 entering the fourth.
- The momentum completely swung in North Carolina's favor in the fourth, as UNC blanked the Blue Jays 5-0 in the fourth, securing the 11-7 victory.
- The group of Antonio DeMarco, Sean Goldsmith, Dewey Egan and P.J. Zinsner each scored two goals in the win for UNC.
- Harry Wellford scored his first goal as a Tar Heel to open the third quarter.
- Andrew Tyeryar was 13-22 (.590) at the faceoff X for UNC, adding eight groundballs in the victory.
- Goalkeeper Collin Krieg stopped 14 shots in the game, collecting five groundballs as well.
- Zinsner's two-goal effort was the first career mult-goal game of his career.
- DeMarco tied his career best two goals for the second-straight contest.
- Tyeryar recorded his 200th career faceoff victory in the game.
