February 18, 2023 | Women's Basketball
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The UNC women's basketball team will partner with the Carolina Black Caucus to recognize three outstanding Black History Month honorees at Sunday's game against Wake Forest.
Tipoff is 4 p.m. at Carmichael Arena. Tickets are available here.
This year's honorees are Crystal King, Lillian Lee and Camille Little, a Carolina women's ball alum and WNBA Champion.
All three will be honored during Sunday's game.
King served as Director of the Carolina Union from 2013 to 2019. She was both the first woman and the first African-American to hold the position.
Lee was among the first teachers at the UNC Hospital School when it was founded in 1965 and was a longtime administrator for Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools.
Her husband, Howard Lee, served as the first Black mayor of Chapel Hill and also as a state senator. In the summer of 2022, the Chapel Hill Transit Facility was renamed in the Lees' honor.
Little played for the Tar Heels from 2004-07. The 2004 Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Year, she was the first true freshman to earn All-ACC first team honors. She earned All-ACC honors all four years and helped the Tar Heels to three conference titles and back-to-back Final Four appearances in 2006 and 2007. She was the 17th overall pick in the 2007 WNBA Draft and played 13 seasons in the league, winning a championship with Seattle in 2010.
Little will not be at the game on Sunday but will be represented by her parents, Robert and Elaine Little.
