No. 3 Women’s Lacrosse Blitzes High Point, 22-4

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – With goals from a season-high 11 different players, the No. 3 University of North Carolina women's lacrosse team had a convincing bounce back win Thursday night at Dorrance Field, cruising past High Point, 22-4.
The Tar Heels are now 8-1 (4-0 ACC) on the year while the Panthers drop to 1-6 (0-0 Big South).
UNC set a single-game team record with 19 assists, erasing the previous record of 16 set on two occasions, most recently against High Point a season ago. Carolina had 41 points, eclipsing the previous single-game mark of 39 set versus the Panthers in 2022.

It's a quick turnaround for the third-ranked Tar Heels, who are back at Dorrance Field on Sunday, March 26, to host No. 22 Clemson in an Atlantic Coast Conference showdown at 2 p.m. ET. The game will be aired on ACC Network and tickets are available here.

How It Happened
- With Reilly Casey leading the way at six points in the first 15 minutes, the Tar Heels jumped out to a 10-1 lead at the end of the opening quarter.
- UNC went on an 8-0 scoring run from 6:45 in the first to 11:23 in the second.
- Caitlyn Wurzburger made it a hat trick four minutes into the second frame as the home team went into the break with a 15-2 advantage.
- Also recording a hat trick was Mackenzie Rich, who achieved the feat just under the halfway point of the third quarter.
- Carolina had 10 unanswered goals from 7:57 in the second to 10:17 in the fourth, with Brooke Baker scoring UNC's 22nd goal.
- Carolina dominated every category, including a 38-10 advantage in shots and a 29-7 lead in shots on goal.
- After a 10-1 lead in the first quarter alone, UNC concluded the game with a 21-7 edge in draw controls.
- UNC had six caused turnovers to HPU's three – which featured two apiece from Lauren Figura and Livi Lawton – as well as 10 ground balls to the visitor's eight.
- Eleven players scored at least once for UNC, while all four of HPU's goals came from two student-athletes.
- Melissa Sconone dished out five assists, a new career-high for the senior. Her previous game-high was four from Feb. 24, 2022, at Pitt.
- Also having a career-high five assists was Casey, who bested her previous high of four from Feb. 24, 2023, at Virginia Tech.
- Mackenzie Rich recorded the first hat trick and first assist of her career, finishing the day with a career-high four points.
- Having had one draw control in four different games, Bailey Horne blasted her career-high with eight.
- Brooke Baker saw the first points of her career after scoring two goals, while Liv Pikiell registered the first assist of her career.
- Kaleigh Harden notched a career-high three points behind two goals and an assist.
- Making one save in her first career appearance between the pipes was Lucy Catherine Olmert.
- UNC improves to 11-0 in the all-time series with HPU, including 6-0 in Chapel Hill.
- Caroline Godine has recorded at least three points in each of the last five games.
- Today marked back-to-back games where Kiley Mottice has tallied three points.
- Wurzburger now has 26 multi-goal games in her career.
- The Tar Heels have now won 39 consecutive home games.
- UNC has scored double-figure goals for 65 times in its last 68 games.
- Carolina has won 57 of its last 59 games, and 65 of its last 68.
