Kelly, Ustby Named All-America Honorable Mention

 Deja Kelly and Alyssa Ustby have capped outstanding junior seasons with All-America honorable mention, as announced Thursday evening by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).

It's the second year in a row that Kelly has earned All-America honorable mention. Ustby earned the award for the first time.

Kelly led the Tar Heels in scoring (16.5 ppg) and Ustby was the team's top rebounder (8.3 rpg) in 2022-23, as Carolina finished 22-11 and played in the NCAA Tournament for the third year in a row. Both players also were named first team All-Atlantic Coast Conference this season, leading the Tar Heels as they climbed as high as sixth in the Associated Press poll.

Kelly's team-best scoring average ranked sixth in the ACC. She also led UNC in assists (3.2 per game, 12th in the ACC) and minutes (35.5 per game, fifth in the ACC).

Ustby's rebounding average ranked fourth in the ACC. She ranked third in the ACC in field goal percentage (.506), ninth in blocks (1.1 per game) and 10th in steals (1.9), leading UNC in all of those categories.
