Men's Tennis Opens ACC Championship Play Friday After Double Bye

The Tar Heels will play No. 5 seed Florida State, which beat Clemson on Thursday, in the quarterfinal round on Friday. Action will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Cary Tennis Park.

The quarterfinals start at 3:30 p.m. Friday with top-seeded Virginia facing off with the Miami-Georgia Tech winner and No. 4 North Carolina battling Florida State. The 6 p.m. quarterfinals feature No. 2 Duke playing the Louisville-Notre Dame winner and No. 3 NC State battling the Wake Forest-Virginia Tech winner.
The semifinals will be played at 2 p.m. Saturday, with the championship match slated for 2 p.m. Sunday.
Single-day tickets are priced at $10 for adults (ages 18 and older; children under 9 and ACC students get in free with school ID) and $7 for youth ages 17 and under. A full Championship pass for all five days is priced at $25. Tickets may be purchased online. All seating for the tournament is General Admission.

• The University of North Carolina men's tennis team tied for third place in the final Atlantic Coast Conference regular season standings. As the No. 4 seed, Carolina earned a double-bye to Friday's quarterfinal round of the 2023 ACC Championship in Cary, N.C. 
• UNC is ranked No. 14 nationally in this week's ITA team rankings.
• Early-round matches including Carolina's Friday quarterfinal, will be streamed at TheACC.com. The Saturday semifinal match featuring the highest remaining seed and the Sunday championship match will broadcast live on ACC Network Extra (ACCNX).

• The Tar Heels are playing their best tennis of the season at the right time. UNC has won six of its last eight matches and 10 of its last 13.
•  Carolina is ranked No. 14 in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings.
• Earlier this season, Carolina beat Florida State, 4-1, in Chapel Hill.
• Carolina closed the regular season with five consecutive home matches at its brand new Chewning Tennis Facility outdoor courts.
UNC's ACC Tournament History
• Carolina has won three ACC Tournaments (1990, 1992, 2002).
• The Tar Heels have advanced at least to the semifinal round in seven consecutive ACC Championships.
• UNC has reached the ACC Tournament final nine times—in 1991, 1993, 1996, 2000, 2007, 2014, 2018, 2021 and 2022.
• Carolina has reached the finals in three of the last four ACC Championships (2018, 2021, 2022).
• Last year, third-seeded Carolina advanced to the championship match by winning a 4-3 thriller over sixth-seeded NC State in Friday's quarterfinals and cruising by 10th-seeded Georgia Tech, 4-1, in Saturday's semifinal round. Virginia beat UNC in the final.
