EAGAN, MINN. - After a three week hiatus due to the 2023 World Lacrosse Men's Championship, the Premier Lacrosse League returned this weekend in Minnesota at TCO Stadium.
July 8 - Waterdogs vs. Chrome
The lone former Tar Heel in the matchup, midfielder Justin Anderson recorded four shots for the Chrome, who dropped to 1-3 on the year.
July 8 - Cannons vs. Atlas
Marcus Holman and Stephen Kelly helped the Cannons improve to .500 on the campaign, picking up their second-straight victory. Holman continued to fill the box score, with three goals, one assist, and four groundballs. With his second goal of the night, with 6:24 remaining in the third quarter, Holman became the fourth player in professional lacrosse history to score 300 career goals. At the faceoff X, Stephen Kelly won four faceoffs and added four groundballs in the winning effort. On the flip side for the Atlas, Chris Gray found the back of the net once, and dished out two assists.
July 9 - Redwoods vs. Chaos
For the Chaos LC, Chris Cloutier posted a goal and an assist, and Will Bowen caused two turnovers and collected a groundball, as the club fell to 2-2 on the season.
July 9 - Whipsnakes vs. Archers
Connor Maher scored his third goal as a professional and recorded two groundballs, as the Archers secured the 15-12 victory to move into first place in the PLL standings.
Rowlett, USA Lacrosse Win Gold Medal
Defenseman Jack Rowlett and the United States Senior National Team went a perfect 7-0 on their way to winning the gold medal at the 2023 World Lacrosse Men's Championship in San Diego.
Earning the start in six of the seven games for the US, Rowlett finished the tournament with 12 groundballs and seven caused turnovers. The Burke, Va. product collected five groundballs against Australia in pool play action on June 23, and had a tournament best three caused turnovers in the semifinal win against Australia on June 29.
Rowlett is now the 11th former UNC Lacrosse player to win the gold medal at the World Lacrosse Championship.
