Men's Soccer Battles No. 10 Notre Dame To 1-1 Draw

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Martin Vician scored his second goal of the 2023 campaign in the 34th minute, as the North Carolina men's soccer team (2-0-3, 0-0-2 ACC) and No. 10 Notre Dame (4-1-2, 1-0-1 ACC) battled to a 1-1 draw, Friday night at Dorrance Field.
How It Happened
• Quenzi Herman forced two Notre Dame saves in the 25th and 32rd minute, with shots on goal for the host Tar Heels.
• Martin Vician was able to break the deadlock in the 34th minute, finding the back of the net from the top of the six, on a driven cross from Ahmad Al-Qaq.
• Kyle Genenbacher nearly scored for Notre Dame in the 43rd minute, as his shot attempt just missed the top corner.
• The Tar Heel nearly built on their lead in the 68th minute, as Sam Williams hit the post on a driven shot from outside of the box.
• Notre Dame grabbed the equalizer in the 84th minute, when Daniel Russo capitalized to knot the match at 1-all.

• Carolina's all-time record against Notre Dame improves to 7-3-3, including a 4-1-1 mark in Chapel Hill.
• Quenzi Huerman led all players in the contest with seven shots, the most by a Tar Heel in a single game since Jonathan Jimenez against VCU on Aug. 29, 2021.
