CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Two former North Carolina women's lacrosse standouts in Ally Mastroianni and Taylor Moreno have been named to the United States' roster for the 2023 World Lacrosse Super Sixes event, as announced by USA Lacrosse on Thursday evening.Â
Mastroianni ('21) and Moreno ('22), both All-America selections who led the Tar Heels to an undefeated national championship season in 2022, are two of 12 players named to the team.
The Super Sixes event will take place in Oshawa, Ontario, from Oct. 6-8. The five other nations set to compete include host Canada, Haiti, the Haudenosaunee, India and Kenya. The U.S. will play India on Oct. 6 and the Haudenosaunee and Canada on Oct. 7 before championship play on Oct. 8.
Mastroianni is one of three athletes on the U.S. roster who won gold at the 2022 World Lacrosse Championship. Moreno, the lone goalie on the squad, was a training team member for the 2022 Worlds team and is the two-time reigning Athletes Unlimited champion.
