September 5, 2023 | Women's Basketball
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Lexi Weger, a Princeton graduate and former women's basketball student-athlete for the Tigers, has joined the UNC women's basketball staff as a graduate assistant. She will work with the team while pursuing a master's degree in UNC's Sport Administration Graduate Program.
"I recruited and coached Lexi at Princeton and am thrilled to bring her now to Carolina," UNC coach Courtney Banghart said. "She will bring a tireless work ethic, a strong desire to learn, relevant experience as a student-athlete, a teamwork approach, and a commitment to making us better. She will love Carolina and all its layers, and she has already hit the ground running."
Weger majored in psychology at Princeton. While an undergraduate, she held internships with the NBA and with Princeton's Sports Marketing office. She also worked as a Digital Production Assistant with NBC Sports during the Tokyo Summer Olympics in 2021.
She is a native of Fairfax, Va., and a graduate of Episcopal High School. Her family now lives in South Hadley, Mass.
"With the opportunity to play for Coach Banghart my first year at Princeton, I experienced first-hand how her vision and values impact recruiting and developing championship basketball teams while fostering a loyal fanbase among students, alumni, and in the community," Weger said. "I am delighted to join the incredible coaches and staff who work with these student-athletes to build on UNC's winning tradition."
