CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The start of women's basketball is in sight, with North Carolina coming in at No. 16 in the USA Today Preseason Women's Basketball Coaches Poll on Thursday.
UNC opens up the regular season from Carmichael Arena on Nov. 4, hosting Charleston Southern at 11 a.m. ET for its annual field trip day. Staying in-state for most of November, the Tar Heels welcome UNCW to Chapel Hill on Nov. 7 before venturing to Greensboro to visit NC A&T on Nov. 12. Remaining in Greensboro, North Carolina hosts No. 2 UConn for a neutral site match-up from First Horizon Coliseum on Nov. 15.
Welcoming back seven letterwinners from last season's NCAA Tournament team, the Tar Heels add five newcomers into the fold in three freshmen and two transfers. Head coach Courtney Banghart and Co. are looking to reach their fifth straight NCAA Tournament and 11 wins in conference action for the fourth year in-a-row.
