CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Entering year 17 under the direction of head coach Joe Breschi, the North Carolina men's lacrosse program has named its captains for the 2025 campaign.
Seniors Ty English and Ryan Levy, alongside graduate transfer Michael Gianforcaro have been voted to lead the Tar Heels this season.
English, a product of Burlington, Ontario, appeared in all 14 contests last spring for the Carolina defensive midfield unit. English finished the year with 29 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers, adding three goals and three assists on the offensive side.
Levy also appeared in all 14 games last spring for the Tar Heels, finishing the season with eight goals and five assists. A consistent threat on the Carolina man-up unit, Levy led the Tar Heels with five man-up goals in 2024. During his career, Levy has been a three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll and two-time All-ACC Academic Team student.
A transfer from Princeton, Gianforcaro joined the Tar Heels this fall after spending four seasons with the Tigers. During his time at Princeton, Gianforcaro was a two-time All-Ivy selection, USA Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-America honoree and team captain, while leading the Ivy League in goals-against average during his final two seasons.
