Men's Lacrosse Welcomes Princeton, Penn For Weekend Matchups

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The 19th-ranked North Carolina men's lacrosse program (2-1) welcomes Ivy League opponents, No. 14 Princeton (2-1) and No. 17 Penn (2-1) to Chapel Hill for a weekend doubleheader.Â

• For the first time since 2011, Carolina will face Ivy League programs in back-to-back games, also against Princeton and Penn.

Thomann Against Hopkins
• Last weekend, freshman defenseman Peter Thomann had three caused turnovers and five ground balls against No. 9 Johns Hopkins.
• The Merrick, N.Y. product is the first Tar Heel defenseman since Will Bowen (2/27/2021 vs. High Point) to have 3+ caused turnovers and 5+ ground balls in the same game.
• Over the past five seasons, Thomann and Bowen (2/15/2020 vs. Lafayette) are the only Tar Heel freshmen to have three-or-more caused turnovers in a single game.
• Thomann joins Connor Maher (2019), Bowen (2020), Matt Wright (2020) and Paul Barton (2022) as freshmen defensive players with five-or-more ground balls in a single game over the past five seasons.
Brady's Start Entering The Weekend
• Prior to Friday night, freshmen faceoff specialist Brady Wambach sits at 34-44 (.773) through his first three games.
• Wambach's faceoff win percentage currently sits at first in the country (as of 2/26).
• The Pittsford, N.Y. native has the most faceoff wins for a freshman through the first three games of the season since Zac Tucci in 2019 (54 faceoff wins).
• Wambach has double-digit faceoff wins and nine ground balls in each of the last two games.
