CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – University of North Carolina women's lacrosse players Ashley Humphrey and Emily Nalls have been named Midseason All-America by ILWomen, the organization announced Thursday afternoon.
Nalls, a defender, landed on the second team while Humphrey garnered honorable mention praise as an attacker.
A versatile defender who impacts the game everywhere on the field, Nalls anchors UNC's defensive unit and leads the team with 16 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers. She also ranks second on the roster with 34 draw controls and dished out an assist at Syracuse.
The graduate co-captain garnered several honors during preseason, including Second Team All-America recognition by both ILWomen and USA Lacrosse. Nalls was also tabbed to the All-ACC Team and Tewaaraton Award Watch List.
Humphrey quickly made her presence known in Carolina blue, as the graduate transfer sits atop the roster with 31 assists and 46 points. Her 31 assists and 2.8 assists per game rank seventh and 12th, respectively, in the nation. She has had four games of 5+ points so far this year.
Only 11 games into the season, Humphrey's 31 assists already rank 10th on UNC's all-time single-season assists leaderboard. She's 19 away from cracking into the top-3.
