Wurzburger Added To Tewaaraton Award Watch List
March 28, 2024 | Women's Lacrosse
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina women's lacrosse player Caitlyn Wurzburger has been added to the 2024 Tewaaraton Award Watch List, as announced by the organization Thursday afternoon. She joins 13 other standouts as midseason additions.Â
Wurzburger is accompanied by Olivia Dirks and Emily Nalls, who were tabbed to the initial watch list in February.Â
The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse players in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation.
An attacker, Wurzburger ranks second on the team in goals (21), assists (15) and points (36). She matched her career-high seven points behind three goals and four assists at Clemson and has three hat tricks on the year.Â
Wurzburger is currently on a 38-game streak of recording at least one point, dating back to April 21, 2022. She has a team-leading 57 multi-point games and 39 multi-goal games in her 74 career appearances.
The senior – who began the season ranked 13th – currently sits at sixth on UNC's all-time career points list with 237 and is nine points from cracking into the top-five. She also ranks fourth all-time in program history with 109 career assists. She's 12 assists away from ranking third and 23 from ranking second.Â
On April 18, the Tewaaraton Award field will be narrowed to 25 nominees. Nominees can be players from the Watch Lists or not from the Watch Lists, effectively allowing for a third round of additions. Five finalists will be announced in early May and will be invited to the Tewaaraton Award Ceremony on May 30.
