Track & Field Sets New School Record; Sees Multiple Winners In Split Action

Winston-Salem & Atlanta -- The Carolina men's and women's track and field teams put together strong performances in Winston-Salem and Atlanta on Friday evening, securing two wins while claiming a new North Carolina track and field record in the process.
Makayla Paige's new 2:00.97 800m school record stole the show at Wake Forest, beating Allie Schmidt's 2003 record of 2:01.16.
Going the distance, Parker Wolfe (13:27.57) and Ethan Strand (13:36.57), crossed the line to clinch a 1-2 finish in the men's 5000m race.
The javelin throwing duo of Bryce Kazmaier (60.24 meters) and Patrick Crockett (56.84 meters) finished first and second respectively in Winston-Salem.
Vaulting the competition, high-flying Peyton Berryman finished 4th in Atlanta after leaping 3.80m (12'6").
The Tar Heels will be back in action again tomorrow in Atlanta and Winston-Salem as they continue to compete in the Georgia Tech and Wake Forest Invitationals.
