Men's Golf Earns No. 1 Seed, Hosts NCAA Regional May 13-15

The University of North Carolina men's golf team earned one of six No. 1 seeds in the 2024 NCAA Championships and will host 12 other teams and 10 individuals in the Chapel Hill Regional May 13-15 at Finley Golf Club.

The Tar Heels have won a school-record-tying seven tournaments this season, including its first Atlantic Coast Conference championship in 18 seasons, and feature five players who have played in previous NCAA Tournaments.

Graduate student Austin Greaser, fifth-year senior Dylan Menante, senior Peter Fountain, junior David Ford and junior Maxwell Ford have played in a combined 13 NCAA Championships. Menante won a national championship at Pepperdine in 2021, Greaser won the 2022 NCAA Yale Regional and David Ford finished fifth in the 2022 NCAA Championship.

Joining the Tar Heels in the Chapel Hill Regional are (by seed) No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Georgia Tech, No. 4 East Tennessee State, No. 5 Northwestern, No. 6 Baylor, No. 7 VCU, No. 8 Loyola Marymount, No. 9 Long Beach State, No. 10 Clemson, No. 11 Michigan State, No. 12 Ball State and No. 13 Howard.

The top five teams and the low individual not on one of those five teams will advance to the NCAA Championship May 24-29 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa's Champions Course in Carlsbad, Calif.

Carolina is one of five teams (with Arizona State, Oklahoma, Texas and Vanderbilt) to advance out of regionals to the NCAA Championship in each of the last six NCAA Tournaments (2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023).

The Tar Heels have finished tied for fifth, tied for fifth and tied for third in the last three NCAA Championships.
