Menante, Ford Brothers Earn All-ACC Double
June 17, 2024 | Men's Golf
Three Tar Heels who earned All-ACC honors in leading Carolina to the ACC men's golf championship have also earned all-conference accolades for outstanding work in the classroom.
Fifth-year senior Dylan Menante (economics) and juniors David Ford (communications studies) and Maxwell Ford (exercise and sports science) were named to the ACC's All-Academic team.
It is the third straight year David Ford earned the award, the second in a row for Menante (who transferred to UNC after three seasons at Pepperdine where he was a West Coast Conference Scholar-Athlete) and the first for Maxwell Ford. He came to UNC prior to this season after two years at Georgia.
All three were part of UNC's record-setting number of five starters that made the All-ACC team as they led the Tar Heels to their first league title in 19 seasons and their fourth consecutive top-five finish in the NCAA Championship.
They are the 13th, 14th and 15th players to garner Academic All-ACC awards in Andrew DiBitetto's seven years as head coach.
They are also among the 10 players around the league to make both All-ACC teams this season for their play on the course and academically.
Requirements for selection to the Academic All-ACC Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester, a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.
