Parker Wolfe Receives ACC Top Men's OTF Honors, Named Bowerman Semifinalist
June 20, 2024 | Track & Field
CHARLOTTE N.C. - North Carolina junior Parker Wolfe has been named the ACC Men's Outdoor Track Performer of the Year and a semifinalist for The Bowerman Award.
Wolfe, voted by ACC coaches as the league's top male track athlete, won his first national championship in the 5,000m at the NCAA Outdoor Championship in Eugene, Oregon. He made history as the first Tar Heel to win the 5,000m, and it was the first individual title for the Tar Heels since 2007.
At the ACC Outdoor Championships, Wolfe won both the 5,000m and 10,000m events. His 10,000m victory was his first-ever race at that distance, while his 5,000m performance set a school and meet record.
The Bowerman, which debuted in 2009, is named after former Oregon Head Coach Bill Bowerman and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female NCAA track and field athletes in the nation.
Wolfe was the first Tar Heel, men's or women's, to ever appear on The Bowerman Watchlist back in February.
This year, Wolfe's achievements include:
- 6x Conference and Region Athlete of the Year
- 5x ACC Individual Champion
- 5x UNC School Record Holder
- 4x First Team All-American
- 3x ACC Record Holder
- 1x NCAA Individual Champion
Wolfe went undefeated in ACC Championship events across the cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track seasons.
