Kate Levy Selected To U.S. U20 National Team
July 2, 2024 | Women's Lacrosse
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Incoming freshman Kate Levy – who was recently named the High School National Player of the Year – has been selected to represent the United States at the 2024 World Lacrosse Women's U20 Championship in Hong Kong this summer. USA Lacrosse announced the finalized roster on Tuesday morning.Â
The 22-player roster that will don the red, white and blue was selected following the final training camp last month at USA Lacrosse Headquarters. Levy is one of just two incoming college rookies named to the U.S. squad.Â
The 2024 World Lacrosse Women's U20 Championship will take place August 15-24 in Hong Kong, China, with the majority of games being held at Mong Kok Stadium. Team USA is slated to open the tournament against Germany on August 16 during pool play.Â
"I could not be more excited at the selection of our U20 national team that will compete in the world championship in Hong Kong," said U20 National Team Head Coach Kelly Amonte Hiller. "We have chosen a group of 22 tremendously talented young women that work extremely well together. This is an exciting time for USA Lacrosse and we are so grateful for this group to have the opportunity to wear the red, white and blue and compete in this extraordinary tournament."

Levy was recently tabbed the High School Girls' National Player of the Year and the Mid-Atlantic Girls' Player of the Year, both by USA Lacrosse. The two-time All-America was also chosen as the 2024 Baltimore Sun's All-Metro Player of the Year.
A two-way midfielder from Chapel Hill, Levy spent her junior and senior year at McDonogh School in Maryland. She led the Eagles with 48 goals, 17 assists, 128 draws and 22 caused turnovers in 2024. Her 48 goals came on 76 shots – a 63-percent shooting percentage. She recorded 55 more draw controls than she did as a junior, solidifying herself as a force everywhere on the field.Â
Named team captain as a senior, Levy guided McDonogh to a 17-2 record and an IAAM Championship runner-up finish this past season. The Eagles were the only IAAM team to go unbeaten in the regular season. In 2023, Levy helped her team win the IAAM title.
The United States is the defending U20 world champion, having reclaimed the title in Ontario, Canada, the last time the event was held in 2019. Three Tar Heels in Elizabeth Hillman ('23), Brooklyn Neumen ('23) and Caitlyn Wurzburger ('24) represented Team USA with Wurzburger being named to the 2019 All-Tournament Team.Â
Levy is the daughter of UNC women's lacrosse head coach Jenny Levy. Her two older brothers, Ryan and Alec, are members of the Carolina men's lacrosse team and their father, Dan, led the Tar Heels to the NCAA championship title in 1991.
