Keaton Vo Signs With Men's Golf Team
July 29, 2024 | Men's Golf
Keaton Vo, a rising junior, is joining the University of North Carolina men's golf program after playing two seasons at the University of Texas.
The Austin, Texas, native competed for the Longhorns in 20 stroke play tournaments and three match play events as a freshman and sophomore. He averaged 72.90 strokes per round and went 8-6-2 in match play.
Vo competed in the Big 12 Championship, NCAA regionals and NCAA Championship in each of his two seasons. He carded a 68 in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Bath Regional and a 4-under 68 in the final round of the 2024 Big 12 Championship, where he tied for eighth.
"I chose UNC because of the culture and coaches," says Vo. "Having a team that is driven to be great golfers as well as great people aligned with my goals. I have no doubt that UNC will bring success during my years here and long after."
Vo posted a collegiate-low 5-under-67 that propelled him to a runner-up finish in the Southwestern Invitational as a freshman.
He tied for sixth in July in the 2024 Southern Amateur, shooting four rounds in the 60s, including a third-round 65, for 11-under 269. He was medalist in the 2022 U.S. Junior Amateur, won the 2022 Texas 5A state high school championship, a three-time AJGA champion and a four-time Rolex Junior All-America.
"We are excited to add Keaton to our Carolina Golf family," says head coach Andrew DiBitetto. "He is talented, athletic, has speed and experience. Additionally, and even more importantly, Keaton is a perfect fit for us. He's a first-class young man who is thoughtful, kind, puts others first and will be an incredible teammate and leader. He's also an exceptionally hard worker and has a burning desire to excel. Keaton is our fifth new player this season and Noah (assistant coach Noah Goldman) and I can't wait to get to work with them."
