Maxwell Ford Wins Match In Ireland in Palmer Cup

North Carolina's Maxwell Ford teamed with Wake Forest's Rachel Kuehn to win their mixed foursomes match and give the United States a point Friday in the 2024 Palmer Cup at Lahinch Golf in Ireland.
Ford and Kuehn beat the duo of Julia Lopez Ramirez (Mississippi State) and Santiago de la Fuente (Houston) 4&3. Ford and Kuehn won four holes on the front nine and closed the match on the 15th hole.
Ireland's Ryan Griffin and Kate Lanigan edged UNC's David Ford and UCLA's Zoe Campos 1 up. Ford and Campos were 3 down with three holes to play but won the 16th and 17th holes to extend the match to 18, where both teams made par to give the Internationals the point.
The International team leads the Ryder Cup-style amateur event 6 ½ to 5 ½ after day one. Two sessions of play are scheduled for Saturday – foursomes in the morning and mixed foursomes again in the afternoon.
