Eleven Gymnasts Named WCGA Scholastic All-America

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Eleven members of the North Carolina gymnastics team earned Scholastic All-America honors for the 2023-24 academic year, as announced by the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association on Wednesday.
The 11 Tar Heels recognized for their accomplishments in the classroom include Gwen Fink, Kate Greene, Julia Knower, Allison LaNasa, Jessica Naranjo, Molly Neinstein, Camryn Rueda, Taylor Schulze, Jamie Shearer, Cory Shinohara and Amy Wozniak.
UNC's 11 student-athletes are tied for the most among all Atlantic Coast Conference schools.
To earn WCGA Scholastic All-America status, student-athletes must have either a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5 or a minimum 3.5 GPA for the academic year. Five of Carolina's 11 Scholastic All-Americans earned a 3.8 or above.
This marks the fourth consecutive year LaNasa has garnered Scholastic All-America recognition and the third straight for Knower. Greene, Schulze, Shearer, Shinohara and Wozniak earned the honor for the second time.
In addition to its 11 Scholastic All-America selections, North Carolina was one of 63 programs nationwide that registered a team GPA above 3.5. The Tar Heels finished the 2023-24 academic year with a 3.57 mark, significant improvement from their 3.36 in 2022-23.
