Women’s Soccer Set For Sunday Showdown With Seton Hall

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 5 North Carolina women's soccer looks to extend its unbeaten streak on Sunday, Sept. 1, when it welcomes Seton Hall to Dorrance Field for a 1 p.m. ET contest.

- This is the first meeting between North Carolina and Seton Hall in program history.
- The Tar Heels have one player from New Jersey, Emerson Elgin, who hails from 45 minutes north of South Orange.
- Olivia Thomas was named the ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 27. She earned the first such honor of her career after a brace against Georgia and another goal vs. Arizona.
- UNC is coming off a 3-0 shutout over North Dakota on Thursday. UNC held UND shotless the entire match for the first time since Nov. 16, 2019, against Belmont.
- Kate Faasse leads the team with nine points behind four goals and one assist. She had her first career brace at Colorado.
- Carolina's backline has held opponents to just 4.8 shots per game, and only 2.2 shots on goal per game. All five opponents have been held to five shots on goal or fewer.
- UNC checked in at No. 5 in this week's United Soccer Coaches poll. The team has been ranked for 515 consecutive weeks.
- Ten of UNC's 14 goals this season have come in the second half. Six of those 10 second-half goals have come in the 70th minute or later, with three of them being scored in the final three minutes.
- The Tar Heels are 416-33-21 all-time at home, a winning percentage of .901. UNC has outscored its opponents 1712-233 all-time at home, including 137-25 since Dorrance Field opened in 2019.
- Junior forward Maddie Dahlien was named to the U.S. U-20 National Team which will compete in the 2024 FIFA U-20 World Cup from Aug. 31-Sept. 22 in Colombia. She left for national team duty on Aug. 20 after playing in the first two games of the season.
