January 13, 2025 | Women's Lacrosse
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina women's lacrosse has been picked fourth in the USA Lacrosse Magazine Division I Women's Preseason Top 20 Poll as well as the ILWomen Division I Top 25 Media Poll. Both were announced ahead of the 2025 season.Â
Under the direction of Jenny Levy, who enters her 30th year as head coach, the Tar Heels compiled a 10-7 record in 2024 and earned their 25th overall – and 19th straight – NCAA Tournament berth.Â
Returning to the field after being sidelined by injury a season ago include Brooklyn Walker-Welch and Marissa White who were ranked No. 4 and No. 30, respectively, in Inside Lacrosse's 2025 Top 50 Players list. Joining them on the player rankings was No. 26 Ashley Humphrey, who earned Honorable Mention All-America honors last year.
The Tar Heels have also welcomed talented rookies who have been ranked the No. 1 freshman class in the country by Inside Lacrosse. Headlining the first-year cohort is No. 1 Addison Pattillo, No. 3 Kate Levy and No. Eliza Osburn.
Additionally, UNC has added several transfers to its roster in the likes of Julia Ford (Brown), Sarah Gresham (Virginia Tech), Nicole Humphrey (USC/UNC), Claudia Kelly (Coastal Carolina), Alice Riper (Exeter, UK) and Olivia Vergano (Virginia Tech). Â
North Carolina opens its 2025 campaign at home on February 7 against James Madison at Dorrance Field with first draw at 5 p.m. ET. The complete schedule can be found here.
