Wrestling Opens 2025-26 Campaign Sunday At Southeast Open

SALEM, Va. - The 2025-26 North Carolina wrestling team begins the season this Sunday, traveling to the Southeast Open hosted by Virginia Tech.

New Faces, New Places
• Entering year three in the Rob Koll era, the program welcomed nine new faces to the program in the offseason.
• The Tar Heels welcomed two transfers, Bryce Hepner (Ohio State) and Kysen Terukina (Iowa State).
• Carolina's 2025 recruiting class features seven freshmen: Nate Askew (149), Matthew Botello (133), Mikey Calcagno (197), Liam Hickey (133), Jacob Levy (285), Luke Sipes (165) and Mitchell Younger (149).
Recapping Last Season
• Carolina secured a share of the ACC regular season championship, the first ACC title since 2018-19 and the 19th in program history.
• The Tar Heels qualified eight wrestlers for the 2025 NCAA Championships in Philadelphia, the most for the program since 2021.
• Four NCAA qualifiers from a season ago return to the mat for the Tar Heels this year, Ethan Oakley (133), Jayden Scott (141), Joshua Ogunsanya (174) and Nolan Neves (285).
