Jenny Levy To Be Inducted Into IWLCA Hall Of Fame
February 13, 2025 | Women's Lacrosse
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association has selected two coaches for induction into its Hall of Fame, one of whom is North Carolina's own Jenny Levy.
Levy joins Maryland's Cathy Reese as inductees for the IWLCA Hall of Fame Class of 2025, as announced by the association on Thursday afternoon. They will be formally inducted on Nov. 20, 2025, at the IWLCA Convention in St. Pete Beach, Fla.
Now in her 30th season as the only head coach in North Carolina women's lacrosse history, Levy is without question among the best coaches in the sport's history.
She entered the 2025 season with 421 wins in 29 completed seasons, the third most career victories by a head coach in NCAA Division I history. Levy boasts a 76.4 career winning percentage, among the highest of all active DI coaches.
The Tar Heels won the national championship in 2013, 2016 and 2022 under the leadership of Levy, whose three NCAA crowns are third all-time by a school and fourth all-time by a head coach. Levy was named the IWLCA Coach of the Year at the end of each of those seasons, and she is one of only five women's lacrosse head coaches to win three or more NCAA titles.
Additionally, Levy has led Carolina to the NCAA semifinals 13 times in her career, tied for third-most by an institution. Her 42 NCAA Tournament wins are second in women's lacrosse history for a head coach.
Levy, a seven-time Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year, has developed UNC into a perennial powerhouse. The Tar Heels' seven ACC Tournament titles are the most by a head coach and second-most by a school. UNC has also captured 10 ACC regular season titles with seven being clinched outright.
The number of honors won by individual Tar Heels are staggering. Levy has produced 64 All-Americans, 14 National Players of the Year, 11 Tewaaraton Award finalists, three NCAA Tournament MVPs and two Honda Award winners. There have also been 117 All-ACC selections and 11 ACC Players of the Year.
In addition to her duties at UNC, Levy also served as head coach of the U.S. Women's National Team from 2017-22. She guided the Stars and Stripes to the gold medal with an undefeated record at the 2022 World Championship. Six Tar Heels were on that roster, the most of any school in the country.
Levy's daughter, Kate, is currently a freshman on the team. They are the second mother-head coach/daughter-player duo in NCAA Division I women's lacrosse history. Levy's sons, Ryan and Alec, are on the UNC men's lacrosse team while her husband, Dan, won a national championship with the Tar Heels in 1991.
A native of Baltimore, Md., Levy was inducted into the USA Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2021 and the Greater Baltimore Chapter Hall of Fame in 2010.
