T&F Splits Up In Virginia For Two Meets

CHAPEL HILL, NC - North Carolina track and field is dividing up the team between the East Coast Invitational and Doc Hale on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 7-8 in Virginia Beach and Blacksburg, Va.

Last time out:
Ethan Strand (3:48.32) was named the national and Atlantic Coast Conference Track athlete of the week for shattering Cooper Teare's NCAA record in the mile at the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic. Strand ran the third-fastest indoor mile of all time. Strand is now the first college runner to post a sub 3:50 mile time.

The last time at the Doc Hale meet:
The heptathlon performance highlighted last year's meet in at Virginia Tech, Max Stakun-Pickering finished third (5,576 points), followed by teammate Sam Corley who finished in fourth (5,551 points). Both Stakun-Pickering and Corley set then personal bests with their final scores.
