Stevenson Earns Preseason First-Team Honors From Baseball America

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Sophomore catcher Luke Stevenson has earned a spot on the Baseball America preseason first team All-America list the organization announced on Tuesday. The teams were determined by a vote of the scouting departments of major league organizations.

It is the third preseason All-America honor so far this preseason for Stevenson, who takes the lone catcher spot in this team. Baseball America described him as a player with "a well-rounded game centered on lefthanded hitting ability, no-doubt catch-and-throw skills and a savvy eye that led to a 17.8% walk rate in his freshman season. Scouts praise Stevenson's work ethic and baseball IQ and figure he'll fit in the middle of the first round on draft day."

The Wake Forest, N.C., native was named a Freshman All-America first team honoree after a 2024 season where he slashed .284/.420/.536 with 14 home runs, 58 RBIs, and a team-best 48 walks (ninth best in the conference).

The Tar Heels open their season at home in Boshamer Stadium on Friday, Feb. 14 against Texas Tech.
