
Fencing Heads To National Championships Thursday Through Sunday

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Four Tar Heel fencers have earned at-large bids for the 2025 NCAA Championships on March 20-23 at the Multi-Sport Facility in University Park, Pa.
Elden Wood is returning to the championship for the second straight season for men's sabre. Wood finished fifth in the regionals. Wood posted seven wins after advancing to the top 12 pool round. Wood took down three All-Americans: Kushkov Simon, Ronald Anglade, and Lilov Neil, who was also the national runner-up last year.Â
Sophia Kovacs has punched her ticket for the third straight season in women's sabre. Kovacs took down eight fencers in the top twelve portion of the day. Kovac took down two All-Americas, Vivan Lu and Alexandra Lee, to finish fourth. Â
Peter Bruk (men's foil) and Brayden Gyure (men's epee) are making their NCAA Championship debut. Bruk's fifth-place finish at regionals was highlighted by his win against Alan Zheng, a three-time All-America.
