Men’s Fencing Sits In Eighth After Day One Of Nationals

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The North Carolina men's fencing team finished day one at the National Championships in eighth place.
Brayden Gyure opened up the National Championship with eight wins on day one of men's epee, including taking down the 2022-23 ACC Men's Epeeist of the Year, Maruan Osman-Touson from Notre Dame. Gyure is sitting in eleventh after day one.
Peter Bruk ended day one in tenth, featuring a sweep of St. John's fencers and besting Samarth Kumbla, an All-American from Columbia in foil.
For sabre, Elden Wood bested the All-American, Ronald Anglade from Princeton and All-America Honorable Mention, Matthew Linsky from Harvard, and Jackson McBride from Columbia.
The men's trio returns to action at 9:00 a.m. EST on Friday.
