Noah Goldman, in his second season as the University of North Carolina's assistant men's golf coach, is a finalist for the 2025 Jan Strickland Outstanding Assistant Coach Award presented by TaylorMade Golf Company.
Â
The Strickland Award is presented annually to the assistant coach that has excelled in working with their student-athletes both on the course and in the classroom.
Â
Goldman is one of four finalists for the D-I award, along with Bo Andrews of Tennessee, Matt Fast of Texas A&M, and Thomas Sutton of Arizona State.
Â
Goldman is a finalist for the second-straight season and third time in the last five years (he also was a finalist in 2021 while coaching at Oregon State). He has helped lead Carolina to two wins and four other top-three finishes this season. Ranked No. 10 by Scoreboard/Clippd, the Tar Heels finished second in stroke play and were a match-play finalist last week in the ACC Championship.
Â
David Ford, ranked No. 1 in the NCAA and in the PGA TOUR University standings, has won a UNC-record five times this season. The Tar Heels are playing with two freshmen among three new starters from a year ago.
Â
The Tar Heels have won nine tournaments in Goldman's two seasons in Chapel Hill. Last year, UNC had four All-ACC and All-PING East Region players, including three All-Americas, won the ACC Championship and tied for fifth in the NCAA Championship.
Â
TaylorMade Golf Company has sponsored the Jan Strickland Outstanding Assistant Coach Award since its inception in 2003. UNC's head coach, Andrew DiBitetto won the award in 2016, and Matt Clark won in 2022.
