
Joyce & Kitchell Punch Their Tickets To NCAAs

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. – North Carolina track and field qualified two athletes for NCAAs on day two of the NCAA East First Round.
Tommy Kitchell (18.99m) punched his ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the first time in his career. On what could have been the final throw of his career, Kitchell moved into the top twelve of the meet and finished in ninth.
Taryn Parks (4:13.61) secured her spot in the quarterfinals of the women's 1500m as she finished second in her heat and eighth overall.

Carolina was able to qualify both 800m runners for the quarterfinals on Saturday as Alyssa Hernandez (2:03.11) ran the best race of her career, moving into fourth all-time at UNC. Makayla Paige (2:04.14) won her heat, which booked her spot in Saturday's race.
