David Ford: ACC Player Of The Year For 2nd Time
June 10, 2025 | Men's Golf
David Ford is the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Golfer of the Year, becoming the first individual to win the award in multiple seasons in a decade.
Ford, who has won three National Player of the Year awards this season, was the ACC Player of the Year as a sophomore in 2023, becoming the first Tar Heel to win the award, which was first introduced in 1992.
The Peachtree Corners, Ga., native broke the single-season scoring average record in 2025 at 68.78 strokes per round, the fourth-best average in NCAA history. His average broke the previous ACC best 68.93 by Wake Forest's Bill Haas in 2003-04.
Ford is the first to win multiple ACC Player-of-the-Year honors since Georgia Tech's Ollie Schniederjans in 2014 and 2015. Ford is the eighth multiple winner, joining Schniederjans, Brooks Koepka (Florida State), Ben Kohles (Virginia), Ryan Blaum (Duke), Haas, Bryce Molder (Georgia Tech) and David Duval (Georgia Tech).
Ford also became the second Tar Heel to earn All-ACC honors in each of his four seasons and the third to make the team four times.
Dustin Bray made the All-ACC team each year from 2001-04, while last year, Austin Greaser, who played in five seasons due to the extra year due to the pandemic, earned his fourth All-ACC award.
