North Carolina freshman Carson Bertagnole shot a final-round 69 to lead the Tar Heels to a share of the tournament title Tuesday in the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational presented by Charles Schwab at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.

The 14th-ranked Tar Heels shared the championship with fifth-ranked Texas, No. 6 Vanderbilt and No. 8 Virginia as all four teams finished 10-over 850.

The Cavaliers held a four-stroke lead after 36 holes before the Tar Heels took a two-stroke advantage midway through the back nine. Carolina shot 7-over 287 in the final round and Virginia was 11 over today, falling back into a tie with the Longhorns and Commodores, who both carded 2-over-par 282s today.

The title is the 25th in Andrew DiBitetto's nine seasons as UNC's head coach. It's the fourth consecutive season the Tar Heels placed in the top four in the Hogan Invitational. Carolina won the event in 2022 and finished second and fourth the next two seasons.

Pepperdine was fifth at 12-over. Alabama (+13), Georgia Tech (+14), Texas Tech (+16), Auburn (+16) and Oklahoma (+23) rounded out the top 10.

Carolina's Andrew Riley (69-72-71) and Keaton Vo (70-68-74) tied for 13th at 2-over 212, Niall Sheils Donegan (69-71-73) tied for 17th at 3-over 213, Bertagnole (72-73-69) tied for 27th at 4-over 214 and Sihan Sandhu (71-76-75) tied for 57th at 12-over 222.

Georgia Tech's Albert Hansson won a five-way playoff for the individual title. He shot 1-under 209 then won the first playoff hole to beat Alabama's William Jennings, Virginia's Ben James, Pepperdine's Willy Walsh and Texas' Christiaan Mass for the title.
