Women's Lacrosse Ranked No. 1 In USA Lacrosse Preseason Poll

SPARKS, Md. — The University of North Carolina women's lacrosse program will open the 2026 season where it left off the '25 campaign, ranked No. 1 in the USA Lacrosse Preseason Top 20, the organization announced on Monday. The reigning national and ACC champions are coming off an undefeated, 22-0 season and return Tewaaraton Award winner Chloe Humphrey, six other Tar Heels who earned All-America honors last season and a roster full of the nation's elite talent.
Carolina will have to navigate a challenging schedule in '26 that includes nine of the nation's Top 20 in the preseason rankings and six in ACC play. The Tar Heels will face No. 2 Northwestern, No. 3 Boston College, No. 4 Florida, No. 6 Stanford, No. 7 Virginia, No. 9 Clemson, No. 11 Syracuse, No. 17 Duke and No. 20 James Madison. The Heels open regular-season play on Saturday, Feb. 7 at James Madison and play their first home game on Friday, Feb. 20 versus Ohio St..
