Gymnastics To Compete At Metroplex

FORT WORTH, Texas – No. 13 University of North Carolina gymnastics is set to compete at Metroplex Sunday at the Fort Worth Convention Center. Sunday's competition features no. 17 Auburn, no. 21 NC State, and Boise State. The action is set to being at 8:15 p.m. ET.
The Tar Heels competed at Metroplex last season in a dual meet against the eventual national champions, Oklahoma. UNC posted a score of 196.200 at the meet.
Carolina will face familiar foe, NC State for the third-straight meet on Sunday. The Tar Heels are 0-2 against the Wolfpack so far this season.
UNC is set to meet Auburn and Boise State for the first time in several seasons. The Tar Heels last clashed with the Auburn Tigers in Carmichael Arena early in the 2022 season. Auburn downed Carolina 196.250-195.700. UNC last met Boise State in 2024 where they fell 196.250-195.150.
Among stiff competition, Carolina will look for JoJo Valahovic and Gwen Fink to lead the way. The pair is coming off two meets where they posted multiple event wins and career highs. Valahovic posted a 9.925 on vault in the previous two meets while tying her career-high of 9.950 on beam during Friday's meet. In the first of two meets against NC State, Fink posted a career-high 9.950 on bars to tie for the third best score in program history. The senior followed with a win in the all-around (39.250) in the Tar Heels and Wolfpack's second meeting.

- Gwen Fink was tabbed ACC Gymnast of the Week (Jan. 14) after winning the All-Around title in the season opener at Florida with a score of 39.475.
- The Tar Heels were picked to finish fourth in the ACC Preseason Poll.
- Carolina secured second place while recording a program record score on the road (196.675) in the season opening quad meet at Florida.
- Gwen Fink and Kaya Forbes were named to the ACC Preseason Watchlist while Sydney Seabrooks was featured on the Preseason Newcomer List.
