NCAA Record-Setting DMR Named ACC Women’s Track Performers Of The Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After setting the NCAA record in the women's distance medley relay, Makayla Paige, Sydney Masciarelli, Vera Sjoberg and Delea Martins won their first Atlantic Coast Conference track and field accolade of the season when the ACC named them Women's Track Performer of the Week on Tuesday, April. 28.
North Carolina's women's distance medley relay squad rewrote the standard for the event by breaking the NCAA record in a blistering 10:36.82 at Penn Relays. Carolina won its twelfth Penn Relays Wheel overall. It was their fourth win in the women's DMR, the first since 2003. Carolina has now won back-to-back wheels for the first time since 2003.
The quartet broke the NCAA, ACC, program, and Penn Relays record and was named College Track Performance of the Day for day two of Penn Relays.
