CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – University of North Carolina women's lacrosse phenom Chloe Humphrey has been named a finalist for the Honda Award for Lacrosse, Chris Voelz, Executive Director of The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA), announced on Monday. Humphrey, who won the award last season, is looking to add to her trophy case after earning the IWLCA Player of the Year Award in both her freshman and sophomore seasons.
Carolina has had two additional Honda Award winners in Kara Cannizzaro in 2013 and Jamie Ortega in 2022. The Tar Heels have had six other finalists in Christine McPike ('02), Amber Falcone ('09), Jen Russell ('10), Marie McCool ('17, '18) and Taylor Moreno ('21).
Humphrey delivered another historic season in 2026, leading the nation in goals (109) and points (159), while her 50 assists tied for 14th. The 109 goals tied the NCAA single-season record and the 159 points rank second on the NCAA single-season list. The 159 points also are the most by any player since 2017. Humphrey claimed IWLCA Player and Attacker of the Year, first-team All-America honors, NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player, ACC Attacker of the Year, first-team All-ACC and ACC Tournament MVP this season.
For her career, Humphrey already ranks third on UNC's all-time points list with 277 and her 199 goals rank second all-time. She's also ninth in school history with 78 assists. In addition to her work with the Tar Heels, Humphrey has become a staple with the U.S. National Team and will be a part of the squad that competes at the World Championships this summer.
