General: A two-time letterman who is competing in the preseason with redshirt freshman Grant Zimmerman to earn the starting goalkeeper spot for the 2006 team...regardless both goalkeepers are expecting to see a lot of action this season...was the chief backup to four-year starter Paul Spellman the past two seasons...a disciplined goalie who is more substance than flash...adept at cutting off the angles of opposing shooters and directing his defense.
2005 Season: Played in four games as a reserve last season...saw 31:59 of action and made six saves while allowing six goals while facing 23 shots.
2004 Season: Saw action in three games for the Tar Heels, playing nearly 32 minutes...started the game at Duke ... made five saves for the season and picked up two ground balls ... had four of the five saves in the win over Limestone... selected for the 2004 ACC Academic Honor Roll.
Prep: Considered one of the nation's best high school goalkeepers his senior year at the Boys' Latin School...graduated from there on June 14, 2003...as a senior at BL, he finished with 192 saves while allowing only 101 goals in 20 games, an average of just 5.05 opposing goals per game...allowed only one team his senior year to score in double figures against him...played three years of lacrosse as a goalkeeper, four years of ice hockey as a center and defenseman and three years of football as a wide receiver and running back...as a junior and a senior he was named first-team All-Metro and All-City/County by the Baltimore Sun and first-team All-State in lacrosse...also tapped for first-team All-City/County honors...started in goal on an MIAA "A" Conference championship team...member of the 2003 Bay State Team...a Top 205 All-Star...All-MIAA selection as a junior and senior...was captain of lacrosse team as a senior... was named lacrosse team's MVP...won Goalie of the Year Award in Maryland as a senior...started in the North-South high school All-Star Game...also played in Maryland's All-Star Game...won the PMR award on the football team as a junior and senior for most receptions on the team...All-Conference selection as a senior in ice hockey.
