Hayley Carter, the winningest player in ACC women’s tennis history, returns to North Carolina as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2018-19 season.
Carter, who served as an assistant coach at Oklahoma State during the 2017-18 campaign, is back at her alma mater while also competing professionally at the same time.
The Hilton Head, South Carolina, native is the only women’s tennis player in ACC history to be named the Scholar-Athlete of the Year, ACC Player of the Year and Tournament Most Valuable Player back-to-back years.
Carter is the ACC’s all-time leader in women’s tennis singles victories (168) and was a seven-time ITA All-American (four in singles, three in doubles). She was a 2017 Patterson Medal recipient, the most prestigious athletic honor awarded at the University of North Carolina.
She Finished with career records of 168-25 in singles and 126-23 in doubles, and led the Tar Heels to a four-year record of 123-14 and 53-3 in ACC regular-season play
Carolina won four regular-season ACC titles, two ACC Tournament championships and the 2015 ITA Indoor National Championship.
