Harris Currently Tied For 18th At All-America Golf Classic

EL PASO, Texas -- University of North Carolina golfer Max Harris is tied for 18th place after the first two rounds of the 1999 Savane College All-America Golf Classic. Harris, a senior from Worthing, England, posted rounds of 75-76 for a 151 total after two rounds. The final round will be played today. The 54-hole event is being played at the El Paso Country Club, a par 71, 6,781-yard layout, and features 24 of the nation's top golfers.
John Engler of Clemson holds a one-shot lead over Matt Kuchar of Georgia Tech going into the final round. Engler fired 69-66 for a 135 total while Kuchar is at 136 after rounds of 69-67. Ryan Vermeer of Kansas is in third place at 139 and David Gossett of Texas is fourth at 140.
Harris, a third-team All-America last year and two-time selection to the All-ACC team, has carded three top 11 finishes for the Tar Heels this fall. Harris captured the individual title of The Ridges Intercollegiate, the first tournament of the fall campaign, after firing a 211 total. He tied for eighth place at the Carpet Capital Classic and tied for 11th at the Golf World/Palmetto Dunes Collegiate.
